Music on the Delaware and Elvanelle Music present the debut of the The Elvanelle Orchestra – a 9-piece show band in the Broadway, Vaudeville, and Jazz traditions.  The concert takes place at 7:30 at the Walton Theatre with an open jam session at 6:30 in the theatre “parlor.”  With members from across the Hudson Valley, Catskills and NYC, Founder/Director Kimberly Hawkey and her band revive Catskill legends through folk music, jazz, comedy, rock and American song.  The program will cover over a century of music from the Grand Hotel era to the post-Woodstock years, including music by regional composers.  Kimberly’s genre-defying vocals meet a shapeshifting band complete with driving rhythm section, dynamic horns, and even traditional folk instruments.

Kimberly Hawkey has received several vocal awards including Gold Medal & Johnny Mercer Award for her multi-genre performances at the American Traditions Vocal Competition in Savannah, GA and the Jazz Forum Arts Vocal Award, Westchester County.  She released a jazz vocal album in 2017 titled “Elvanelle & the Escape Act.

Come join us for an evening of story, sound and song.

A Focus on Community and Education

Hello Escapists!

It's spring in the Catskills Mountains - lots of rain and lots of time indoors cooking up plans for sunnier days. April 1st marked my first full-year in Arkville. I'd like to say it's been full-time, but I maintain an active teaching and performance schedule in the Hudson Valley and NYC. Even still, my 3-4 days a week in Delaware County have seen serendipitous connections with people, venues and places. My mission of bringing local communities to life through song is being realized one-connection-at-a-time. Here are a few events I'm really looking forward to:

American Song at Arkville's Union Grove Distillery. Bryan Brundige on trombone + more special guests.

A new workshop at the Pine Hill Community Center! Open to all young musicians who want to learn how to create a fully-improvised group song using rhythm, harmony and melody!

First Look & Live Premiere!

Dear Friends,

I'm very excited to write you today. The album progress is in it's final stages (although it's felt like that for a few months now!). But I can confirm that the album artwork is nearly complete, after which I will be able to order the hard copies and send them off to you with your Rewards. If you are in the NYC/Rockland/Westchester area, please mark your calendars for Saturday, March 18th. This will be the live premiere of music from my album, featuring a 5-piece jazz band. You'll finally get to hear all the crazy and sentimental arrangements we put together for songs by Johnny Mercer, Jule Styne, Hoagy Carmichael, Richard Rodgers, Luther Vandross and myself! Be sure to call the number on the flyer to make reservations. It is a very intimate club; one of it's loveliest features. Or join me on Facebook and invite an adventurous friend.
